She can feel the distance growing between them, and she’s worried that not even her Christmas surprise will be enough to hold them together. Roman Arceneaux wants to make Christmas a special time for his beautiful wife, but to do so, he has to work long hours away from home, leaving Sabrina alone and unhappy. Can he pull off a Christmas miracle before there’s nothing left to save?

Excerpt

“Sabrina,” Roman began, but Sabrina shook her head, cutting him off. “Please don’t tell me it wasn’t what I think it was,” she said in a quiet, hurt voice. “Well, really, it wasn’t,” he said, crossing the room to take her hands in his. “Amanda is my secretary and she’s a little on the unconventional side, and sometimes acts from the heart instead of the mind.” When he attempted to pull her into his embrace, Sabrina resisted and pulled away instead. “I guess I know why you’ve been spending so much time here lately,” she said, making her way to the door. “I came to tell you that I planned to order a tree for the apartment, since you didn’t seem too eager to do it, but instead, I think I’m going to spend the holidays with my parents.” She paused a moment and glanced back at him. “Your secretary, Roman?” She scoffed in a scathing tone, “How cliché.” Before Roman could protest his innocence, before he could stop his wife and explain to her what she’d walked in on, she was gone, and his carefully laid plans were once again in jeopardy of falling through.

About the Author

Brenda Tetreault grew up on the southern Oregon coast. All through school, she wrote but put it aside when a school counselor informed her that, while she had a nice little hobby, she would never be good enough at it to pay the bills. After a short stint in the Air Force, during which she met and married her husband, Brenda settled down to be a military wife and the mother of a precocious little boy. She began writing again in her mid-thirties and in 2009 her first book, The Witcher Legacy: Book One of The Bounty Cove Chronicles was finally published. In 2012 Brenda completed her first paranormal romance series, The Bounty Cove Chronicles, and is currently working on an entirely new series. On September 23, 2013, 'Tempted', the first book in The Nightshade Series was released through Kindle Direct Publishing, and was followed up with the second book in the series, ‘Salvaged’, on May 16, 2014. ‘Beloved’, the third in the series, followed soon after on October 28, 2014, and on July 14, 2015, the fourth in the series, ‘Fated’, was published. Today, Brenda is enjoying a small amount of success, and has even begun to pay some of the bills with her writing! While she is unsure how many adventures there will be in this new series, Brenda does promise that it will feature all of the fun, adventure, love, steamy sex, and happily ever afters that have been the hallmarks of her writing from the beginning!

Interview

What inspired you to become an author?
I come from a long line of storytellers. I guess you could say I was born to do it! There came a moment when I realized that I wanted as many people as possible to enjoy my stories, so, I became an author.
I assume all authors also love to read, so what book inspired your love of reading?
I’ve been reading as long as I can remember, but I remember receiving the Little House On The Prairie boxed set for Christmas when I was eight or nine years old. I read those books until they fell apart! I’ve been a voracious reader ever since.
How old were you when you wrote your first story?
I wrote my first story when I was seven years old. It was about a mouse who was afraid of his shadow.
Who are some of your favorite authors now?
Mainstream authors are Gena Showalter, Patricia Cornwell, and Jim Butcher. Indie authors are Michelle Rabe, Rissa Blakely, and Felicity Kates.
Are you a plotter or a pantser?
Panster all the way, baby!
Are your characters based on people you know?
Some of them are, but I’m not saying which ones!
What are some of your writing rituals?
I don’t have any real rituals. I write when the muse hits, or when the Little Voices are talking. When I write, I just sit down and write.
How do other books influence your writing?
Sometimes reading other books helps me to better focus my storyline, or tweak a character just right. Other times, other books inspire me to see how far I can push the storyline or the characters.
How do you get motivated to sit down and write with all the real world interruptions?
LOL When the Little Voices are talking, real world interruptions cease to exist for me. When everything is clicking on all cylinders, I just keep writing until it’s time to stop. If I have to stop to say, feed the family, I get back to it as soon as I can.
Which one of your books is your favorite?
Salvaged, the second book in my Nightshade Saga holds a special place in my heart. You see, that’s the story that was never supposed to be written. I had no plans at all to write a story for Caius, but readers fell in love with him while reading Tempted (even though he was a real bastard!) and started asking for his story. I sat down to give it a go, and wrote it in a week! The Story of Caius and Wren is a story about love overcoming a lot of shit to survive.
If you could have a writing retreat anywhere in the world, where would you want it to be and why?
I would find a little sidewalk table outside a café in the Montemarte District of Paris. I would want to be able to sit there, on the street, watching the people come and go and listen to the noises of the city around me. Besides…Where better to write romance than Paris???
If your main character were an alcoholic beverage, which beverage would they be and why?
Karas, from my current WIP would be well aged Whiskey- starts with a little bite and fire, but goes down warm and smooth.
If you could live in a fictional world, which world would you choose and why?
Definitely Hogwarts. I don’t think an explanation is needed….
What’s the best way to hide a body?
Toss it into an abandoned mine and cause a cave in, or, weigh it down and toss it into a very deep, water filled rock quarry.
This or That
Coke or Pepsi? Neither. I don’t drink soda.
Paperback or e-reader? Paperback!
